Campbell Residents – COVID Vaccine info
UPDATE: CVS LOCATIONS as of 2/12
CVS Pharmacies are offering vaccinations beginning today, 2/12, in various locations throughout California, however there are currently none in Campbell and all of the San Jose locations are fully booked. The nearest available location is over 200 miles away. Check their website for frequent updates: cvshealth.com
Some people who are trying to get the Covid vaccine are running into misinformation and a
gauntlet of postings on social media telling of the experiences of other residents in getting their
DCNA is posting this information in an attempt to clear the air. There is a link at the end of this
article which will connect you with the website where you can make your appointment to
receive the vaccine.
A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER:
To be eligible for the vaccine you currently must be at least 65 years old and a resident of Santa
Clara County. There are no special categories except health care provider or first responder
which will allow you to jump ahead of others. You will not be charged for your vaccination;
Medicare will pay.
You will not have a choice of vaccine manufacturers. You will get what they are giving. Right
now, the approved vaccines are from Pfizer and Moderna. Johnson and Johnson and Astra-
Zeneca are waiting for FDA approval. When they are approved there will be a significant boost
to vaccine deliveries.
There are more vaccination sites being added every week, but to operate at full capacity there
needs to be a reliable delivery of vaccines. Up to now, the rate of deliveries has not kept up
with demand, but vaccine manufacturers are ramping-up to deliver more doses. This situation
is fluid and changes every week, but seems to be headed in the right direction.
The website you must navigate to obtain an appointment with Santa Clara County’s
Department of Health often shows “No Appointments Available”. If you try the website early in
the day the chances of getting an appointment are better. Also, remember to try various
vaccination locations and not assume that all the locations are full. Be persistent and try the
website again and again every day until you are successful. There are additional appointments
added daily. There are vaccination sites at the county fairgrounds, also in Gilroy, Mountain
View, and at Levi’s Stadium. There is also a phone number to call if you would rather schedule
your appointment that way.
If you are a Kaiser member or a member of some other HMO you DO NOT need to wait until
that group can schedule a vaccination. Anyone who is at least 65 years old can get their
vaccination from Santa Clara County Health Department. This is a recent change.
